Abilities in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning are special combat talents that can be learned and improved through leveling up. These Abilities are split into three subsections, that allows you to hone your character into fighting (Might), roguery(Finesse), and spell casting (Sorcery). In KoA: Re-Reckoning players have complete freedom to create their character with Abilities combined from all the three trees.
There is also a special ability that any player has: the Fateshift, a special move that can be performed on enemies when the Fateless One is in the Reckoning mode
Abilities are arranged into six tiers. Epic Gems and Armor Sets will increase various abilities in certain tiers (not all tiers).
In Addition, spending points on Abilities will also unlock Destinies, which works as the most classic RPGs Classes System. These Destinies can be unlocked to improve passive capabilities.
How to Get Ability Points
Through leveling up, you can earn 3 points to spend on both Active and Passive Abilities of any tree.
Can I respec My Abilities?
Players are able to reallocate the distribution of Ability Points at any time by paying in-game currency to a Fateweaver. This allows players to rebuild their character without creating a new one.
Active and Passive Abilities
When you get into the Ability Trees, you can find both Active and Passive Abilities.
Within the different Ability Trees, you can easily distinguish Active Abilities from Passive Abilities, as Active Abilities are shaped like a circle and Passive Abilities are square-shaped.
Active Abilities must be mapped to the player interface to be used as a "Special Ability" while in combat. On the other hand, Passive Abilities are active all the time, as long as parameters related to them, as equipping a particular weapon, are followed and met.
