The Waters of Madness is a Quest in Kingdoms of Amalur:Re-Reckoning. The Water of Madness is a Side Quest available to the player. Completing The Water of Madness will give additional loot, items, experience or equipment, but it is not necessary to complete the game's main story.

 

Alrette Rond of Rond farm, and her husband Dennrit have asked me to cure of the madness afflicting them. They believe it's related to a wizard named Jenniker who was performing experiments upriver, in the Fae Hollow Cranalt. I should go to Cranalt and see if I can locate Jenniker.

The Waters of Madness Walkthrough

  • You will receive this quest upon discovering the Rond Farm in the southeast of The Wolds. Speak with Alrette Rond who is with her husband Dennret Rond just outside. She claims that the grain had been tainted by something in the water causing her and her husband to go mad. She tells you that a man named Jenniker had recently passed through on the way to the Cranalt in the west and she believes he is responsible for the tainting of the waters. 
  • Travel to the Cranalt and you will find a dead Jenniker, killed by the Murghan in the cave. Read his journal to learn about the artifact in the Cranalt that is responsible for the tainted waters and how to fix it.
  • You can find the Gem Lattice in the north passage and the Mana Pendulum and Belt of Fluidity
  • Once you have the items, head to the artifact and you will be presented with four options:
    1. Deactivating the device. Both Alrette Rond and her husband remain alive and plan to move on with their lives.
    2. Select Sanguine. Both Alrette Rond and her husband are sane again. She asks you to shut down the device for good.
    3. Select Melancholic. Dennret Rond dies. Alrette will also die after speaking to you.
    4. Select Phlegmatic. Dennret Rond loses it and goes on a violent rampage, forcing Alrette Rond to put him down. She asks you once again to shut down the artifact and then kills herself.
